At what age can giftedness be assessed?

A reliable cognitive assessment can be conducted from age 6 using the WISC-V. Before that age, indicators can be observed but results are less stable. Early identification is key to providing adequate emotional and educational support.

What IQ score defines giftedness?

Traditionally, an IQ of 130+ was the threshold. However, modern clinical practice considers the full cognitive profile, creativity, motivation and emotional characteristics. A child with an IQ of 125 and exceptional creativity may need support just as much as one with 135.

My gifted child gets bad grades. Is that normal?

Yes, it's more common than you might think. This is called "underachievement" and often happens because the child is bored, unchallenged, or emotionally overwhelmed. A proper evaluation helps identify the cause and design strategies.

Can a child be gifted and have ADHD at the same time?

Absolutely. This is called "twice-exceptionality" or "dual diagnosis." The ADHD can mask the giftedness and vice versa, making diagnosis complex. Our evaluations are specifically designed to detect these overlapping profiles.

What does the evaluation process look like?

It includes intelligence test batteries (WISC-V, RIAS), creativity assessments, emotional and personality questionnaires, and clinical interviews with parents and the child. We deliver a comprehensive report valid for schools. The full process costs 400€.

Do you offer giftedness evaluation in Valencia?

Yes. Our clinic is in central Valencia and authorised by the Generalitat Valenciana (Sanidad GVA). We attend families from the whole metropolitan area — Paterna, Burjassot, Torrent, Alboraya, Godella, Mislata and surroundings — and also offer online sessions across Spain.

Is the report valid for Valencian schools?

Yes. The giftedness report is valid for any school in the Comunidad Valenciana to request curricular enrichment, acceleration programmes or specific support measures for high-ability students.

What does the school counselling team need to start acting?

In most schools of the Generalitat Valenciana (GVA), the counselling team needs an external clinical psychological report signed by a licensed psychologist. With that report they can start the inclusion protocol and propose enrichment or acceleration measures. Our reports are specifically prepared for this process.

How much does the evaluation cost and what does it include?

The full process has a fixed price of €400 and includes the initial family interview, all testing sessions (WISC-V, RIAS, creativity, emotional profile), the feedback session and the delivery of the official report ready to be presented to the school.

How long does it take to get the report?

The full process usually takes between 3 and 4 weeks from the first interview to the delivery of the report. It includes between 3 and 6 hours of standardised testing, spread over several sessions, and a feedback session in which we explain the results to the family.

Is the report valid for the Spanish NEAE grant (beca NEAE)?

Yes. The report meets the requirements to apply for the Ministry of Education grant for pupils with Specific Educational Support Needs (NEAE): it includes the diagnosis with its ICD-11 and DSM-5-TR codes, a description of the impact at school and recommendations for the school.

How do we get started?

How do I know if I am a gifted adult?

Many gifted adults reach the clinic after evaluating their child and recognising themselves in the profile, or after years of impostor syndrome, paralysing perfectionism, emotional hypersensitivity and a sense of being "one step ahead" without understanding why they feel disconnected. An evaluation with WAIS-IV, personality profiling and clinical interview can confirm or rule out the profile and, above all, provide a framework to understand one's own history.

Do you offer therapy for already-diagnosed gifted children or adults?

Yes. In addition to evaluation, we support families with an already-diagnosed child and gifted adults who want to work on self-esteem, perfectionism, emotional regulation, social difficulties or twice-exceptional profiles (giftedness + ADHD / ASD). A prior evaluation is not always needed: if you already have a report, we start from there.

Why are gifted girls underdiagnosed?

Gifted girls often develop social camouflage strategies (blending in at all costs, hiding what they know not to stand out) and present a more internalising profile (anxiety, perfectionism, self-demand) instead of the disruptive behaviours that usually catch the environment's attention. This, combined with gender bias in school observation, means many of them reach a diagnosis in adolescence or adulthood after years of unexplained distress.
